Yes, if a search by Scripture passage in the ATLA Religion Database doesn't result in many citations to articles or essays (e.g. "Matthew 22:15-21), broaden the search by looking at the subject headings/descriptors given to the most relevant article/essay and redirect the search by clicking on a promising heading (e.g. Church and state--Biblical teaching). Then add one or more keywords to further narrow the search as shown below:
