Q. Where would I find background information about the NT book of James, especially when it was written?

The entries on James in Bible dictionaries are usually the best places to find background information of this nature.  The location of Bible dictionaries in our library is under call number BS440.  The Ministry Matters online resource contains the full text of the New Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible.
