Cathy,

I asked one of our New Testament professors for an opinion on the book you mention.  Here is what he had to say:

********

I think that's a very good book. Also recommended in this topic: T. K. Seim, The Double Message; B. E. Reid, Choosing the Better Part?

None of these three presents a one-dimensionally "positive" assessment of Luke's presentation of women and their roles in early Christianity. All of them note ways in which Luke has potential for both empowering women and also perpetuating cultural norms that subjugated women.

********

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
