WorldCat is a gigantic database of catalog records for books and other media contributed by thousands of libraries around the globe.  It is the best place to look to verify the existence of an item,  find where that item is located, and determine the facts of publication of that item such as who is its publisher.  WorldCat is linked under Resources on the library website.

It also can be accessed by going to www.worldcat.org.
